SALISBURY, N.H.—Nearly 200 residents of Salisbury, N.H., are urging selectmen not to hire the person they’ve chosen to be the new police chief.
On the day after selectmen offered Frank Jones the job last month, he was accused of assaulting his wife by grabbing her arm during an argument in Meredith. She later told police Jones had not assaulted her and a judge dismissed the charge.
Selectmen said they wanted to talk to the town lawyer before proceeding with the hiring.
Former Selectman Ken Ross-Raymond dropped off petitions signed by 183 residents. They urge selectmen not to hire Jones and say if Jones already has been sworn in, he should be fired.
