This letter to the editors summed up nicely why Massachusetts surely ought to repeal its state income tax and even more reason why NH should not ever impose one. We fully support these efforts in the state to our south.

Reasons I’m voting to repeal state income tax
To the editor:
1. If Barack Obama wins the White House, we’ll need the lack of Mass. payroll tax to counter whatever extra tax burden that Obama places on us.
2. If our state Legislature has the money to give our state’s board of parole the money to buy its members a car to go to meetings and to continue to parole cons even against the advice of our prison wardens. The Parole Board in my opinion is a complete waste of money. I think this means that there’s too much money in the hands of our state Legislature. If I were the governor the state board of parole would cease to exist. That would help insure the safety of the rest of our citizens.¬
3. If our state Legislature including legislator Mike Costello thinks that we have enough money to give illegal immigrants access to our schools of higher education even when taxpaying citizens in nearby states can’t get that benefit, I think it’s time to repeal the state’s payroll tax.
4. When our state Legislature has enough money to give to individual state departments such as fire departments, departments of public works, etc., 10 percent raises each year plus disability payments for body builders¬ when the rest of us in the private sector are getting pay cuts, it’s time to repeal the state payroll tax.
5. When our state legislators are able to put¬ rogue judges on disability after they get caught shaking down citizens, I think it’s time to cut the payroll tax.
6. When our state Legislature continues to give themselves pay raises when the rest of us are getting pay cuts, it’s time to repeal the state income tax.
7. When our state Legislature finds extra money to give away to our individual local governments’ special projects such as roller skating rinks, it’s time to repeal the state income tax.
8. After being told that the present income tax would only be temporary for the last 20 years, it’s time to make our state Legislature live up to its promise and repeal the state income tax. I read Mr. Crawford’s opinion the other day and he says that if the state income tax is repealed many state programs would be in jeopardy. Well, our next door neighbor, New Hampshire, doesn’t have a state income tax and I don’t think that that state is doing too bad. Mr. Crawford also says that there are other ways of making sure our state Legislature acts responsibly with our money. When has that ever happened? If it has, please give us an example.
