The towns of Wilton, Lyndeborough and Mont Vernon have their new tax rates for 2008 set by the state Department of Revenue Administration.

Wilton’s new rate is $18, up from $15.74, a $2.24 increase, or about 12 percent, over last year

The new tax breaks down to $5.01 for the town, $9.84 for the local schools, $2.15 for the state school tax and $1 for the county.

Mont Vernon’s new rate $23.52, up from $22, a 7 percent increase.

A house assessed at $300,000 would pay $7,052, or $456 more than last year.

The new tax rate breaks down to $4.09 for the town, $15.90 for the local schools, $2.42 for the state schools, and $1.11 for the county.

Total assessed value of property in Mont Vernon is now $257.2 million, up from $253.4 million.

Lyndeborough’s new tax rate is $20.98, up from $18.73, a $2.25 , or a 10 percent, increase.

The new rate breaks down to $5.86 for the town, $11.94 for the local school, $2.15 for the state school, $1.03 for the county.

The total value of property is now $188 million, up from $185 million.

Last week The Cabinet reported the new rates for Amherst and Milford. Amherst’s went up by 3 percent, and Milford’s are up 6 percent.

Rates for Bedford, Hollis and Brookline went down.
