The Coalition for a Fair Assessment will host a workshop on how to go about filing a tax abatement on Feb. 7.
The workshop will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. in the precinct meeting room at the Hampton Beach fire station.
Linda Gebhart, president of the group, said those who are upset with a recent revaluation that raised their property assessments and tax bills need to file an abatement by March 1.
An abatement is the first step in the assessment appeal process.
“This will give everyone three weekends to file abatement before the March 1 deadline,” Gebhart said.
In order to receive an abatement, a resident must prove there is either an error in the physical data of the property or the assessment is not proportional to other properties.
The 150-plus group was formed back in November when residents saw their property tax bills go up by 30, 40 or 60 percent while the value of the majority of properties in town went down.
