NASHUA, N.H. (AP) — The mayor of Nashua wants to change the state’s right-to-know law so city officials can meet in secret to discuss collective bargaining strategies.

The mayor, aldermen and school board met in private last spring on the eve of a proposed teachers’ strike. A Hillsborough County Superior Court judge later said the meeting violated the state’s right-to-know law, which is aimed at protecting the public’s right to observe government business.

Now, Mayor Donnalee Lozeau has asked lawmakers representing the city to sponsor a bill that would allow for such meetings. She says the proposed change would be narrow in scope.
