Many towns and cities give taxpayer funds to non-profit groups who are not subject to our right to know laws. Rep. Rick Watrous of Concord attempted to get a bill passed (HB 1356) that would require groups that take substantial funds from public monies to open up their dealings to the public under the right to know law.(RSA 91-A). And why not?
Sadly this bill was defeated in the NH House.
You may be asked at town meetings to vote to donate money to these private groups. Now you have another reason to just vote NO to these dangerously non-transparent public/private partnerships.
