We cannot imagine why newly elected Senator Donna Soucy would object to parents wanting to opt their children out of objectionable material by co-sponsoring a bill that repeals HB 542.
SB 53 would disallow parents to opt out their children from material that they saw as to violent or otherwise inappropriate.

It is CRITICAL that parents be able to opt their children out of material they find objectionable. Many books assigned to children have violent or in appropriate sexual content. If a parent sees that their child has violent tendencies, this opt out (courtesy of HB 542) gives that parent the option at the parent’s expense.
This attempt to take away this right is irresponsible on the part of sponsors Sen. D’Allesandro, Dist 20; Sen. Watters, Dist 4; Sen. Soucy, Dist 18; Rep. Goley, Hills 8
