The NH Right to Know group worked for several months on RSA 91-A to make the law work better for citizens and so that Judges would not give public officials so many passes on violations.
Marge Smith chairwoman of the NH House Judiciary asked Cordell Johnston, lobbyist for NHMA to make suggestions after hearings were completed. Cordell came back with a completely different bill one which again ended some citizens rights.
Although we objected strenuously it passed the House and was heard by Senate committee. The Senate committee has voted inexpedient to legislate based on citizens testimony of how wrong this bill is and not at all what was put forth on our behalf.
We believe this will be voted at the Senates next session and ask everyone to ask their Senators to Vote against HB 1156 as it now exists and help us next year to put forth a clean bill to make Right to Know stronger for citizens.
