There will be a public hearing to gather more feedback on a plan to increase turnpike toll rates across New Hampshire TONIGHT (Wednesday December 13) at Manchester City Hall, Aldermanic Chambers, 1 City Hall Plaza at 7:00 PM.

Written comments should be sent to William E. Watson, 7 Hazen Drive, PO Box 483, Concord, NH 03302-0483, or by email to Bill.Watson@dot.nh.gov. Comments must be received by 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Under the proposal, the rates in Hooksett and Bedford would increase from $1 to $1.50, Dover and Rochester tolls would increase from 75 cents to $1, and Hampton tolls would go from $2 to $2.50. It would be the first system-wide increase in a decade, and would raise money for highway projects.

There may not have been a lot of truth to the reason for the hikes, according to this article in the Union Leader, which reports that the money will be spent for the pedestrian/bike crossing anyway.
